Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 17, 2026. Applies to the Sleep Sanity iPhone and Android apps, the web app at app.sleepsanity.ca, and the website at sleepsanity.ca.

Sleep Sanity is a baby sleep tracker made by an independent developer in Ontario, Canada. This page says, in plain language, what information we collect, why, who else touches it, and how to get rid of it. If anything here is unclear, email support@sleepsanity.ca.

The short version

• We collect user data, and this page lists all of it. Nothing is collected that is not listed here.
• With no account, everything stays on your device. Nothing is sent to us.
• With an account, your logs are stored so both parents can see them. We do not sell, rent or share them, and there are no ads, no advertising profiles, and no analytics or tracking SDKs.
• We do not use artificial intelligence on your data, and none of it is used to train any model.
• You can delete everything yourself, from inside the app, at any time.

What we collect

Data you enter. Your baby's first name and birthdate. Sleep, nap, night wake and feed logs: times, durations, feed amounts, crying minutes and any notes you type. Your plan settings: Night 1 date, reminder times, sleep score targets, colour theme. This is information about your child that you, the parent or caregiver, choose to enter.

Account data, only if you sign in. The email address and user identifier from your sign-in provider (Google or Apple). We never see or store your password. Authentication is handled entirely by Google or Apple.

Household data, only if you invite a partner. A household record linking your account to your partner's, and the invite codes used to join it.

Web push data, only if you turn on reminders in the browser version. Your browser's push subscription and your reminder times, so a reminder can be delivered while the app is closed. The installed apps schedule reminders on the device instead and send nothing.

Support email. If you email us, we keep the message so we can answer it.

What we do not collect. No device identifiers, no advertising identifiers, no precise location, no contacts, no photos, no microphone, no health data from Apple Health or Google Fit, no payment details (the app is free). We do not use cookies on sleepsanity.ca. The website has no analytics.

Why we collect it

To run the app: show your logs, calculate the sleep score and the plan, sync between your phone and your partner's, and send reminders you asked for. To answer support email. That is the complete list of purposes.

Children's data

Sleep Sanity is for parents and caregivers, not for children. We do not knowingly collect information directly from anyone under 13, and the app has no features aimed at children. The information about your baby is entered by you and belongs to you. Please only enter information about children you are responsible for.

Third parties who process data on our behalf

We do not sell or share data with data brokers, advertisers or analytics companies. The following providers process data because the app cannot work without them, each under their own privacy terms:

• Supabase (database and sign-in). Stores account and sync data, encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is restricted with row level security so only members of your household can read or write your baby's logs. Supabase hosts on Amazon Web Services.
• Cloudflare (hosting for the website and the web app). Serves the pages and, like any web host, records standard server request logs such as IP address and browser type for security and abuse prevention. We do not use Cloudflare's analytics on our pages.
• Google and Apple (optional sign-in). When you choose Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple, they confirm who you are and give us your email and a user identifier. Their privacy policies govern that step.
• Apple App Store and Google Play. Distribute the app and handle ratings. If you leave a rating through the in app prompt, that goes to the store, not to us.
• Your browser's push service (Apple, Google or Mozilla), only for web push reminders.

There are no other third party SDKs in the app. There is no AI service, no crash reporter and no ad network.

Artificial intelligence

Sleep Sanity does not use artificial intelligence or machine learning on your data. There is no chatbot. The sleep score and the plan are simple, fixed calculations that you can read about in the app. Your data is never used to train any model, ours or anyone else's.

Where your data lives and how long we keep it

Local data lives on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Synced data lives in Supabase for as long as your account exists. Web push subscriptions are removed automatically when your browser reports them expired. Support emails are kept for up to two years. Server request logs at Cloudflare are kept briefly under Cloudflare's own retention.

Security

All traffic between the app and our servers uses HTTPS. Data at rest is encrypted by our database provider. Database access is enforced by row level security policies tied to your signed in identity, so no account can read another household's data. We do not use any public storage buckets; the app has no file uploads. No system is perfectly secure, and if we ever learn of a breach affecting your data we will tell you by email and describe what happened.

Your rights and choices

• See and change your data. Everything you entered is visible and editable in the app.
• Export. Email us and we will send your data as a file within 30 days.
• Delete. In the app: Settings, then Sync, then Delete account. This permanently removes your logs, your baby's profile, your household if no one else is in it, your push subscriptions and your sign-in record from our servers. If you cannot get into the app, email support@sleepsanity.ca from the address you signed in with and we will do it within 30 days. See Delete your account.
• Use it with no account. The app works fully offline with nothing sent to us.
• Complain. You can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or your local data protection authority, at any time.

We handle personal information under Canada's PIPEDA and, where it applies to you, the GDPR and UK GDPR. Our legal basis is the contract with you to provide the app, and your consent for optional features like sync and reminders. Data may be stored outside your country, in Supabase's and Cloudflare's data centres.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change we will update the effective date above and, for signed in users, mention it in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
